Gourd Chess Set

Here is the Chess board by itself, the top is 23" X 23" and is 4"tall

The playing squares are 2-1/2" X 2-1/2"

Gourd Chess Set with chess pieces inside, used green velvet for the lining and all brass hardware.


The Brown pieces are a light brown leather dye with gold leaf edges and red highlights. The King is 5" tall.	The Green pieces are a light green leather dye with silver leaf edges and red highlights. The whole set was built around the green queen.

All the pieces are slightly different due to the fact that no two gourds are the same shape.

I have about 20 hours on the 32 gourd chess pieces.

10 hours on the chess board and box. For a total of 30 hours project time.

I have researched gourd chess sets and this was definitely a one of a kind project.
